Our new Broker Portal: Insights from Lisa Windley
We recently caught up with Lisa Windley, our Sales Development Manager, to find out more about her thoughts on our new Broker Portal and how it will help advisers.
Hi Lisa. Tell us a bit about yourself and your role at Royal London Equity Release.
I have worked within the financial services industry for 17 years in various roles, including as an adviser. I have seen the industry evolve and adapt throughout my career and I am proud to be part of such a resilient community.
I am the Sales Development Manager here at Royal London Equity Release. My role is to lead and support the Field BDM Team along with being the BDM for the Eastern Region. I spend my time at industry events, giving presentations, and working with advisers and colleagues to shape our proposition and ensure good customer outcomes.
I grew up in Leicestershire and have since moved to Norfolk where I enjoy the outdoor life with my young family. My passions outside of work include music concerts and engines, recently leading me to purchase my first motorbike!
Why did our Broker Portal need updating?
We needed an update that brought us in line with the industry standard set by other lenders. Advisers were sometimes having to wait up to 48 hours for their KFI to be uploaded, potentially delaying an application from being submitted. The previous portal also produced incorrect KFIs at times. It was imperative that we updated our portal to eliminate the risk of advisers recommending products which were not available.
The new portal will ensure a smooth and efficient journey for advisers and therefore customers, providing greater flexibility in submitting applications with Royal London Equity Release.
Which feature are you most excited about?
Having previously worked in an advice role, I understand the importance of time saving for both advisers and customers who want to minimise delays. Our new portal will ensure advisers can obtain KFIs and submit applications whenever and wherever they wish. It makes me happy that we are launching tech that will enhance advisers’ overall experience with our business.
What other improvements can advisers expect?
With the new portal, advisers will no longer need to call and chase their KFI, saving them time overall. They can also look forward to more additions to the portal in time. Our current focus is to listen to their feedback and consider what advisers want to see that we currently don’t offer.
How is the new portal better in terms of design and tech?
I like that building the portal was an independent effort and that we didn’t rely on a third party. This means we have control to amend and evolve, as our industry does, and won’t need to rely on external input.
How will the new portal improve advisers' day-to-day operations?
Our previous portal would show advisers a full selection of our products. The new portal will ensure that only products relevant to the customer’s circumstances will be recommended, based on the information provided by the advisers themselves. This will help advisers to avoid choosing a product for a customer that isn’t eligible.
What do you hope advisers take from this service update?
I hope advisers recognise that we have listened to their valuable feedback and created a portal that they can use with ease and confidence. I hope they see that at Royal London Equity Release, we are committed to the market and to supporting our advisers to achieve positive outcomes for their customers.
